stop over development

stop over development especially building with concrete, the development in Jersey is unsustainable its destroying the environment and ecosystems

Why the contribution is important

concrete is a massive producer of CO2 emissions we need alternatives

we need to stop over development in Jersey because too many people are now living in Jersey its not sustainable. We need to work out how many people can live in a sustainable way on our Island to not damage its environment and the ecosystems within that environment

I don't think we can full out stop development on the island. Housing prices are too high and would still be too high even with mitigation measures like population control and our residential qualification programme.

We should focus our development in sustainable ways. Focusing on redeveloping brownfield sites that are close to amenities and ensuring other sites have better sustainable connections to those amenities. Improving accessibility around our villages which have often been built piecemeal without any flow/thought for walking/cycling. Ensuring old buildings and new builds are energy and resource efficient, with solar panels and the like (I'm no expert on sustainable housing).
