A call for action
The Question posed this week is as follows: Is Jersey doing enough about climate change?
I think most Islanders would probably be asking, "Is Jersey doing anything about climate change?". Like most, I would struggle to point a single tangible policy so far that is actually in force and delivering change. That's not to say there aren't some great initiatives going on in terms of the climate conversation, various policies being developped, the declaration of climate emergecny etc. But these don't seem to have translated into any action so far.
Why the contribution is important
We need action, quickly. Our window of opportunity is closing. In 2018 the UN issued a warning that we only have 12 years to limit climate change catastrophe. 3 years on, and 2 years into Jersey's own climate emergency declaration, it is high time we started seeing some bold decisive measures.
