Community power! What more can JE do to help?

We want to inspire the community on the road to zero carbon by supporting planting projects like the re-forestation of Mourier Valley and education programme at the National Trust for Jersey.

What other community sustainability activities would you like to see?

Why the contribution is important

Planting schemes like Mourier Valley not only contribute to carbon sequestration but importantly increase bio-diversity and protect wildlife habitats.

Working with partners in our Island community ensures together we can find ways for everyone to make a contribution to the Climate Emergency.

Every action no matter how small can help move us closer to a zero carbon future.

Why doesn't JE finance and lease solar panels for those Jersey properties that have desirable roof space? The private householder would be compensated with cheaper electricity while the community benefits from increased electrical system resilience, jobs for those fitting and maintaining the PV cells and less leakage from the economy for paying France for the electricity.

Hi @SirDavesillegitimateson, thanks for your idea. Something for the future perhaps. For now we’re concentrating our efforts on commercial-scale solar that generates to the grid for the benefit of everybody.
